50 Lexington is a co-op, and as such, buying or renting apartments is done directly with the owners or their designated real estate broker. At the time this is written, a 20% downpayment is required for purchasing an apartment in the building. A prospective buyer doesn't need to meet with the Board of Directors, and the basic requirements are quite straightforward.

Unlike many other co-ops in New York City, there are very few restrictions on renting or subletting an apartment in the building; a fact that makes this a very lucrative building for those interested in investing in real estate in Manhattan, but not living in the city.
